Dan’s path towards the profession started at a young age with Legos + sketching buildings while doing daily asthma breathing treatments. Dan’s respect for the teams of doctors + nurses who cared for him sparked his mission to assist others. Establishing DANKE is the next step in carrying out that mission.

Dan has led design teams that have been awarded numerous local and national design awards, and his work has been featured in equestrian, and in many local and national publications such as: Architectural Digest, Inhabitat, Architect Magazine, DC Mud, Stable Style, Paulick Report, Horse and Style Magazine, California Horse Magazine, EQlux, ESPN, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and the New York Times.

Dan is actively involved in leadership development; volunteering as a high school football coach at Upper Arlington + serving as the AIA|DC’s Chair of the Christopher Kelly Leadership Development Program for the AIA|DC. He volunteers for animal rescue organizations, and has fostered and helped find new homes for over 50 dogs.

Dan is an alumni of The Ohio State University, where he earned a BS in Political Science with a Pre-Med focus, and then a Masters of Architecture in 2001. He is currently licensed in the District of Columbia, Virginia, and Ohio. Dan is also NCARB certified, which makes getting reciprocal licensure in other states when needed.
